Smokestar is an old cat, and growing older. He is becoming slow and weak, unwilling to move farther than a few pawsteps outside of camp. He is grumpy and easily irritated, but he is losing his once-great judgment. He is basically a hard-header grumpy elder who is unwilling to retire. Since his judgment and memory fail him, he is easily tricked into doing things he would not have done in the past.
